How much pasta to serve?

A portion is the amount of a specific food individual eats for a meal or snack. A portion is the amount of food the person chooses to eat. It typically depends on what would usually have, how hungry the person feel and how much is in a pack or on the plate. But having a healthy, balanced diet is about getting the right types of foods and drinks in the right amounts.

Many factors affect food portions, such as age, gender, activity level, appetite, and where or when the food is obtained and eaten.

While, a serving is a standard amount (issued by the USDA) used to give advice about how much to eat, and to identify how many calories and nutrients are in a particular food.

A single serving of pasta is generally regarded as 2 oz. (57 g) of cooked pasta for a first course or side dish. A serving can be raised 3 to 4 oz. (85 to 113 g) if it is the only course. However, this depends upon the shape of the pasta.

Spaghetti is made from durum wheat semolina and water. It is 8 ½ to 11 inches long and has added iron, thiamin, niacin, riboflavin, and folic acid. Spaghetti is packed in 1-pound packages, which is about 32 servings (½ cup each) of cooked spaghetti.
