After months of trial and error instant ramen was introduced in August 1958 by Ando Momofuku. He was the founder of Nissin Food Products. The company was established in 1948.
Nissin Foods was the first developed instant and it produced like the home made product but then formed into cake, fried in oil and air-dried by blowing in hot air.
It was called ‘chicken ramen’ which comprised of chicken flavored, dried soup sachet. It was ready to eat within a few minutes of immersion in a saucepan of boiling water.
In 1971 Nissin introduced its successful Cup Noodles in container. Nissin Foods then began to market and export what would become its greatest product. Americans fell in love with it, helping Nissin Foods to expand internationally.
In October 2006, Nissin Food Products acquired Myojo Foods Company, another maker of ramen instant.
